Update Of The Partridge Family In The Works

October 1st, 2008

A new version of the seventies television series ‘The Partridge Family’ is in development, with the writer vowing to “turn the premise on its head.”

The original show, which aired from 1970 to 1974, made superstars out of David Cassidy, Danny Bonaduce and Susan Dey and produced 10 albums during it’s time on air.

“In the original, the kids actually recruited their mom to front the band, which I can’t see happening in any family on this planet,” writer Jeff Rake tells The Hollywood Reporter. “The new version will reflect what seems to me to be the more realistic family band scenario these days: a struggling, sort of well-meaning mom pimping her kids in order to create a wholesome-slash-sexy cash cow.”

‘Partridge’ has been picked up by America’s NBC network.
