Val Kilmer To Voice KITT In Knight Rider

February 7th, 2008

Val Kilmer is set to take over as the voice of the car, KITT, in a new telemovie based on the hit eighties television show ‘Knight Rider’, after actor Wil Arnett was forced to give up the role due to contractual obligations.

US Television network NBC is reviving the show that made David Hasselhoff a household name and beamed a talking Trans Am into television sets across the world. The new ‘Knight Rider’, which this time around features a talking Ford Mustang, will premiere in less than two weeks.

Arnett had already completed his role, according to Variety.com, so Val Kilmer was required to re-voice the dialogue in a short period of time.

Arnett was forced to pull out of the movie due to his ongoing committment as the voiceover for a rival car company.

"I was very excited at the prospect of playing the part of KITT in the new ‘Knight Rider’ movie," the ‘Arrested Developmet’ star said.

"However, because of a long relationship with General Motors as the voice of GMC Trucks, I had to respectfully withdraw from the project."

According to Variety, Ford is "taking an active role in the marketing and branding of the pic", and says this movie could be a pilot to launch a new series of the eighties hit.
