Talk about kicking a man while he’s down! A bench warrant was issued Tuesday (March 16) in Arizona for Lil Wayne, because he failed to show up for a hearing relating to drug and weapons charges due to the fact that he’s ALREADY IN JAIL!!
Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, will now face court once he’s released from his current sentence, for his January 2008 arrest at a border checkpoint where authorities found drugs and a handgun on his tour bus.
“It does not appear that a trial will be occurring anytime within the next eight to 12 months,” Wayne’s attorney, James Tilson, said.
The 27-year-old rapper is currently serving time in New York’s Rikers Island on a weapons possession charge.
