Whoopi Goldberg Defends Herself Against Mel Gibson Comments

July 14th, 2010

Whoopi Goldberg has been forced to defend herself against criticism that she stuck up for Mel Gibson during a segment on The View earlier this week.

“If you had actually watched the show,” Goldberg explained Wednesday (July 14).  “You would have heard us say, and you would have heard me specifically say, ‘I don’t condone this. I don’t think this is right, I don’t think this is smart. But here’s the piece of information that I have. My experience tells me that this is not a racist.”

Watch the clip above for Goldberg’s full explanation, including how people have been calling her office and verbally abusing her staff!

She said to him “……………..…??” (That’s right, we don’t actually know)
He said to her “ I’ll f@##ng burn your house down” (or something like that)
She said to him “……………………………….??” (yep, we still don’t know!)
He said to her “you deserve a bat in the side of your head!”
The argument continues, blah…blah…expletive…expletive. (common language during arguments and common tone of voice)

Common outcomes: After screaming match, the door slams, someone has walked out never to return or…. they do return to kiss and make up. End of story!

Common celebrity outcomes: All of the above with the exception of an unwelcome but hungry dirt loving media sniffing around for a whiff of dirty laundry!

Uncommon outcome: One voice in the screaming match is secretly recorded. The recording is fed, make that drip fed (as it must be dragged out via slow release for maximum impact, longevity and cash) to a pack of salivating media wolves who wouldn’t be interested in the other voice even if it was available!

Common response: Outburst of shock, horror and righteous indignation from the commoners.

    Commonly ignored: the facts!

I smell a whiff of an all too common scenario: Gold digging unknown finds fame and fortune by dishing the dirt etc etc.

If wife bashing occurred there are legal channels to deal with it. If privacy is abused there should also be legal redress. She (whatever her name is) has no class.

I don't see a problem with what Whoopi said, to be honest.
